What is Media Literacy?
In our Media Literacy sessions we have the privilege of working with those who find reading and writing a challenge. Many are still scarred by the names they were called and labels which have been put on them decades ago, believing they weren't able to learn and move forward.
However, through the use of media, film and drama, the Media Literacy project is helping not only to develop Literacy skills, but tears down the lies of the past and sees the participants explode with self confidence and joy. It develops great teamwork and social skills. We see those previously terrified of reading aloud in the past, now perform in front of large audiences. Those who could not read are now reading aloud in different public settings. Together, they write scripts and create short films and dramas.
